If you've ever wanted to know a bunch of useless and fun facts about Ash, then you have come to the right place. This page is for all sorts of Ash related trivia.

• According to Takeshi Shudo's novel, Ash is ten years, ten months and ten days old on the day he starts his journey. Also, trainers are said to obtain their first Pokémon in the April following their tenth birthday in the novel. The anime started on the 1st April 1997. If Ash was ten years, ten months and ten days old on that very day, then his date of birth would be 22nd May 1986.
   

• Ash has died no less than three times. In the first movie, he was turned to stone after getting caught between Mew and Mewtwo's attacks. In the episode, The Tower of Terror, he and Pikachu got killed by a falling chandelier. Lastly, in the eighth movie, Ash and his friends all got swallowed by the bacteria devouring cells. Quite a feat, huh?
   

• Ash's original choice for a starter Pokémon was Squirtle. He then wanted Bulbasaur, and lastly Charmander, except they were taken too of course. Funnily enough, Gary was the one to get Squirtle, though it wasn't revealed until the end of Johto.
   

• Ash has cross-dressed three times, in Pokémon Scent-sation!, Love at First Flight! and Tanks for the Memories! He has also dressed up as fruit twice, wearing an apple costume in Pokémon Food Fight! and an eggplant costume in Claydol Big and Tall!
   

• Ash was once transformed into a Pikachu in Hocus Pokémon! This form was called "Ashachu"
   

• There are several varieties of the ash tree whose names connect to the games- Red Ash, Blue Ash, Green Ash and Indigo Ash.
   

• Ash carries around several prized possessions that remind him of his friends, such as the half of a Poké Ball that was split between himself and Gary, a handkerchief that was given to him by Misty and half of a ribbon that he and May won when they tied in a contest.
   

• Out of all the Elite Four members, Ash has only battled Lorelei, Drake, Agatha and Flint, losing to all four of them. He has not yet met Will, Karen, Sidney, Phoebe, Glacia, and Bertha (though Bertha has been shown, so he probably will meet her.)
   

• The longest time that Ash has ever gone without earning a badge was 52 episodes (between Sliding into Seventh! and the episode where he battles Volkner for the badge.

• The only starter Pokémon Ash has never caught are Torchic, Mudkip and Piplup.
   

• Out of all the Pokémon Ash has released or left somewhere, three of them have never reappeared- Butterfree, Primeape and Pidgeot.
   

• Ash has caught three primate Pokémon (Primeape, Aipom, Chimchar), three turtle Pokémon (Squirtle, Torkoal, Turtwig), two crab Pokémon (Krabby, Corphish) and he has also captured a bird Pokémon from every region (Pidgeotto, Noctowl, Taillow, Starly)
   

• Ash has seen at least twenty seven different legendary Pokémon.
   

• Ash has taken part in three different contests, despite not being a co-ordinator. The first one began in Once More with Reeling, the second in Mounting a Co-ordinator Assault! and the third in Staging a Heroes Welcome! He won the first contest, tying with May, but lost the other two.
   

• Pikachu has destroyed a bike belonging to every girl Ash has travelled on his journey with.
